EUGENE – Oregon’s Tennis team saw players advance at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Thursday.

Luke Vandecasteele battled to a three-set win to advance to the quarterfinals defeating Portland’s Issa Yoshida 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.

The win earned him an automatic spot the Super Regional in Seattle (Oct. 22-25), joining teammates Joshua Charlton, Jesper Klöv-Nilsson and Quinn Vandecasteele in the Seattle Super Regional.

Vandecasteele will play for a spot in the semifinals of the Regional on Friday against Gonzaga’s Sasha Trkulja.

Earlier in the day, Luke and Ryoma Matsushita advanced to the third round of the doubles draw, beating Portland State (Richards/Jesser) 8-5. The duo will face Portland’s Yoshida and Hibi on Friday. Matches get underway at 10:00 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center.
