PHILADELPHIA — Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin has been added to the Maxwell Award watch list, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Wednesday morning.
The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Franklin joins Oregon quarterback Bo Nix on the watch list.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 13, and voting will commence on Nov. 14.
Franklin has been one of the nation’s top playmakers this season, ranking seventh in the country and second in the Pac-12 with 108.4 receiving yards per game. The junior has caught 52 passes for 867 yards and nine touchdowns, tied for most in the Pac-12 and fifth in the FBS.
The East Palo Alto, Calif., native already has five 100-yard receiving games this season, one away from the UO single-season record. His 20 career touchdown receptions are four away from the program record, and he is 133 yards shy of becoming the 12th Duck ever with 1,000 receiving yards in a season. Franklin is also on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top receiver regardless of position.
