CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team will open their penultimate home weekend with two against the mountain opposition – Colorado and Utah – after their second 2-0 weekend in last three tries.
After Sunday’s match, the Beavers will salute seven – Emma Villaluz, Emily Bourne, Peyton Suess, Aliyah McDonald, Elizabeth Schuster, Megan Sheridan and Mychael Vernon – with festivities for Senior Day.
THE OPPOSITION
Oregon State will look to even the season series against both Colorado and Utah this weekend. Back in early October, the Beavers dropped hard-fought battles – including a five-set affair – to these schools. Coach Behonick’s squad will look to keep up momentum from a 2-0 weekend.
After holding Washington to just seven points in a set on the way to a four-set win, the Beavers stunned No. 6 Washington State in five. The win over the Cougars clinched the second top-25 upset of the month following a five-set win over then-No. 19 Arizona State.

Heading into the final month of the season, Oregon State has been building. The beginning of the Behonick era has seen:
• The first home sweep of the Arizona schools since 2017
• The first road sweep of the Washington schools since 2017
• The first top 25 road win since 2017
• The first time beating two ranked opponents since 2011
• The first win over a ranked Washington State since 2016
• Just the third win over Washington in Seattle since 2001
1,000 KILLS
In the third set of the Cal match, Peyton Suess recorded her 1,000th career kill. After amassing 869 at Wake Forest, she’s collected 137 so far in her time in Corvallis.
Vernon is not too far away from the milestone herself. The New Yorker is sitting at 941 kills and eclipsed the 800-kill threshold at the beginning of October. With just those 59 kills, she can be the 17th student-athlete to accomplish the feat at Oregon State.

In the Pac-12, Vernon sits in the top-15 in six statistical categories, including four inside the top-10 and two inside the top-six.

Helping the Beaver offense in big ways recently is newcomer Amanda Burns. The LMU transfer has made a mark in the Pac-12 with 400 assists – good enough for 12th in the league. In the last eight matches, she’s averaged 24.5 assists/match with a high of 36 set back in the five-set affair to Cal back on Oct. 22.
OH, WE DIG THAT
White’s 317 digs lead the Beavs and is good for second in the league. She – an eastern Washington native – recorded 29 digs – a new career-high – in the upset of Washington State. She’s totaled 20 or more digs in four of the last six times out, including a combined 43 in the two wins over No. 19 ASU and Arizona.
