Soccer Program Inks Five

EUGENE, Ore. – Experience at the national team level is a common thread among the five student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent with the Oregon soccer program, head coach Graeme Abel announced Thursday.

Joining the team for the 2024 season will be two players from Hawaii as well as one each from Oregon, Texas and London.

Springfield, Ore., native and Marist High School product Cloe Chase will stay home to play college soccer. She’ll be joined by a pair of Hawaiians – Kailee Chavez (Makakilo) and Carly Cormack (Honolulu) – Ariane Haysman Boaler (England) and Taylor Person (Frisco, Texas).

“We are so excited welcome this class to our program,” said Abel. “When we started the process of identifying what we needed, we wanted to make sure this class had the personality and character to come in and impact us right away. We believe we have found a great blend of athleticism, technical ability and work ethic that helps our roster immediately.

“This past year was about building our group through experience to set our program up for the future – that experience will be shared amongst our signees so they can hit the ground running.”

Haysman Boaler on Oregon

“The women’s soccer facilities stood out more than any other program I visited, as well as the campus being impressive. The soccer program impressed me in many ways, the main ones being the coaching staff and the goals this program has.”

Coach Abel on Haysman Boaler

“Ari is a pure goal scorer. Her ability to strike a ball with pace is a phenomenal quality. She has pace and the athleticism to be a very good collegiate forward. When recruiting her, we loved her ability to strike from various ranges and her willingness to take chances to create goal-scoring opportunities. Our job is to now help Ari bring those skills to Oregon so she can impact at the collegiate level.”

That’s exactly what I felt at Oregon. I knew I was home and exactly where I was supposed to be. On my visit, I got to meet the team and talk with all the staff members, and they made me feel so comfortable and confident I could succeed there within their culture.”

Coach Abel on Person

“Taylor’s pure finishing ability is going to give us more goal scoring threats up top. Taylor plays with an intensity and passion that we love to coach. She has a very good soccer brain and IQ that will be a great addition for us higher up the field.
