EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon volleyball team earned a No. 2 seed and will host Southeastern Louisiana in the opening round of the 2023 Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Eugene quad begins Thursday, Nov. 30, at Matthew Knight Arena.
Oregon is hosting the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament for a seventh time, and for a second-consecutive season. The Ducks also welcome Iowa State and Hawai’i to Eugene. The full 64-team field was revealed Sunday on ESPN.
“I told the team this is only the second time in program history that we’re a 2-seed in the tournament,” head coach Matt Ulmer said after the selection show. “I think 2012 is the only other year. And hosting back-to-back years feels really great. It’s something that I hope this group has raised the standard of the program. This is gonna be what we’re shooting for every year.”

Oregon closed out the regular season Saturday with a straight-set win at Oregon State. The Ducks carry a 26-5 record into the postseason, and are winners in nine of their last 10 including five in a row. With their 16-4 conference record, the Ducks were second in the Pac-12 for a second-consecutive season.
The program will be making its 20th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and sixth under Ulmer. The Ducks have advanced to two regional finals—Elite 8—under Ulmer with runs in 2018 and 2022, and a trip to the Sweet 16 during the 2021 spring season.
Oregon faced 11 NCAA Tournament teams during the recently completed regular season, and is one of five teams from the Pac-12—Arizona State, Stanford, USC and Washington State—in the field.
The Ducks’ quad is part of the region that includes No. 1 seed Wisconsin, (3) Purdue, (4) Kansas, (5) Penn State, (6) Marquette, (7) Iowa State and (8) Northern Iowa.
