BLAZER5 GAMING TIPS OFF 2024 SEASON WITH TWO WINS IN THE SLAM OPEN

Blazer5 defeated Jazz Gaming & Kings Guard Gaming with 3-0 Sweeps

PORTLAND, Ore. (Mar. 4, 2024) – Blazer5 Gaming tipped off the 2024 NBA 2K season in the SLAM OPEN by facing off against Warriors Gaming Squad, Lakers Gaming, Jazz Gaming and Kings Guard Gaming in 3v3 style matchups from February 28 to March 1. After four days of competition, the Blazer5 trio of Claude “Claude” Knight, Austin “KayAus” Catarino and Robert “May” May brought home the first two wins of the season with 3-0 victories against Jazz Gaming and Kings Guard Gaming.

“After our success last season entering as the 13 seed in the 3v3 STEAL OPEN and bringing home the third league championship for the franchise, the team is ready to return this season and build on that success,” said Mikias Yohannes, Blazer5 General Manager. “While we have fresh faces this season, we look forward to building a cohesive team ready to compete on the court.”

This season, returning 2023 Blazer5 players Claude “Claude” Knight and Austin “KayAus” Catarino are joined by Wahid “Faiz” Faiz, Robert “May” May and Patrick-John “YouBots” Fadel, selected in the 2024 NBA 2K Draft at 8, 16 and 30.

Initially, Blazer5 came into the 2024 Draft with three selections – 8, 30 and 34 – prior to trading the 34th pick and 2025 first round pick (acquired from Pistons GT) to Magic Gaming in exchange for the Magic’s 2024 16th pick.

Selected at number 8 was shooting guard Wahid “Faiz” Faiz from Ontario, Canada. The 2024 season will be Faiz’s fourth season, having previously played for Brooklyn NetsGC and Cleveland Cavs Legion Gaming after originally being selected in the second round of the 2021 draft with the 33rd pick.

After Blazer5’s on-the-clock trade, they drafted center Robert “May” May with the 16th pick. May originally hails from Massachusetts and is entering his sixth season in the league. With their 30th and final pick, Blazer5 selected shooting guard Patrick-John “YouBots” Fadel from Watertown, New York.

Blazer5 will continue 3v3 style matchups in THE SWITCH on March 21. Additional information on Blazer5 can be found at blazer5gaming.nba.com and more information about the NBA 2K League can be found at 2kleague.nba.com.
