EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon acrobatics and tumbling hosts top-ranked Baylor for its final home meet of the season on Friday at Matthew Knight Arena. The No. 4 Ducks are coming off of a season-best performance against Hawai’i Pacific and will need to match that quality in order to take down the eight-time defending champion Bears.

THE DUCKS vs. THE BEARS PART II
This will be the 37th meeting between Oregon and Baylor, with the latter leading the all-time series 23-13. The pair are the only two universities to be crowned NCATA National Champions as the Ducks claimed each of the first four titles (2011-14) while the Bears have captured each of the last eight. Oregon is the last team to take down Baylor, winning 281.635-280.660 in Eugene on March 6, 2021. In the first meeting between the two programs this season, Oregon held the lead through the toss event before Baylor stormed back to steal a 278.935-271.585 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
A perfect 10 in the open pyramid heat highlighted a dominant road victory for No. 2 Oregon acrobatics and tumbling over No. 9 Hawai’i Pacific, 276.915-258.345. The Ducks opened the meet with a strong showing in the compulsory event, taking 38.35-37.65 lead over the Sharks in the early stages. HPU bounced back to defeat Oregon in the acro event, but the Ducks rebounded with a perfect 10 in the third heat of the pyramid event to reclaim the momentum. Oregon continued its surge by recording a season high 29.25 in the following toss event and after some quality showings in tumbling they fired on all cylinders in the team event and scored a season best 94.14 to put an exclamation point on the victory.
SWEEPING THE AWARDS
Oregon swept the weekly NCATA awards as Cami Wilson was named Athlete of the Week, Makena Carrion named Specialist of the Week and Bella Swarthout named Freshman of the Week. Each of the three Ducks were involved in the third heat of the pyramid event in which Oregon notched a perfect 10. Wilson competed in 10 heats and the team event, logging nine scores of 9.60 or higher. Carrion earned specialist honors for her performances in the pyramid event, competing as a top to help Oregon score 10.0 in the open pyramid and 9.80 in the synchronized pyramid. Swarthout was recognized for competing in four heats and the team event, scoring9.70 or higher in each.
SALUTING THE SENIORS
Friday’s meet will be the final time Oregon’s senior class of 10 will compete in Eugene. The following Ducks will be recognized for their contributions to the program over the course of their time at UO: Kaylie Barrera, Makena Carrion, Emilie Henningsen, Mallory Kent, Emma Keogh, Katie Keogh, Italie Macchiavello, Camille Mantoani, Caelin Niebergall and Cami Wilson. Also being recognized is manager Ethan Karpel.
