EUGENE, Ore. – Aaliyah McCormick is the Pac-12 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after a personal-best performance Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays. Tuesday’s selection is the first conference honor of her career, and sixth Athlete of the Week for the Ducks this season.
McCormick ran a conference-leading 12.81 in the elite section of the 100-meter hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays. She finished as the top collegian and was second overall in the race. McCormick’s time doubles as a lifetime best and ties with Sasha Wallace as the No. 2 performer in program history. She came into the race with a best of 12.85 from last year’s Pac-12 Championships.
The San Diego native currently ranks fifth in the NCAA this season.
McCormick is the third UO woman to win a weekly award this year, along with Maddy Elmore (April 2) and Jadyn Mays (April 9). Last week, Mason Strunk and Shelby Moran swept men’s and women’s field honors, and Jaida Ross was recognized for her collegiate record in the shot put seven days prior.
Along with McCormick’s performance, the UO women added top-25 national marks in the 100 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 4×100 relay, long jump and heptathlon. The team is up a spot to No. 4 in Tuesday’s release of the USTFCCCA national rankings.
