EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women’s basketball team has added all-Big West first-team selection and the conference’s leading rebounder Alexis Whitfield, head women’s basketball coach Kelly Graves announced Wednesday.
Whitfield, a 6-foot-2 forward from West Hills, Calif., spent the last two seasons at UC Santa Barbara after playing two seasons at Washington. She had a breakout season in 2023-24, finishing second in the Big West in scoring at 15.1 points per game and third in field goal percentage at 46.0 percent to go with her 9.8 rebounds a game. Starting all 31 games for the Gauchos last season, Whitfield turned in 21 double-digit scoring efforts, including 10 games with 20 or more points, and 10 double-doubles.
A three-time Big West Player of the Week, Whitfield dropped a career-high 30 points in UCSB’s first-round contest against Long Beach State at the Big West Tournament on 12-of-20 shooting to go with 17 rebounds. She hauled in a career-best 19 boards against Hawai’i on Jan. 25, one of her 14 games with at least 10 rebounds.
In two seasons at UCSB, Whitfield averaged 10.5 points and 7.2 rebounds a game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from behind the 3-point line.
Whitfield was limited to just 33 games over two seasons at Washington due to injury. She averaged 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds a night while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.
She has amassed 769 points (8.1 per game) and 512 rebounds (5.4 per game) in her four collegiate seasons while shooting at a 45.3 percent clip.
Coming out of Chaminade College Prep in West Hills, Calif., she was the No. 61 overall recruit and No. 15 forward in the 2020 class by ESPN. Whitfield was a three-time all-CIF Southern Section first-team pick and 2019 SS Player of the Year, and was one of 12 nominees for the Los Angeles Girls Basketball Player of the Year following her senior season.
Whitfield will be a graduate transfer in 2024-25 and has one year of eligibility remaining.

Graves on Whitfield: Alexis is such a versatile player and has the ability to play multiple positions for us. She can score at an efficient rate, both in the paint with her back to the basket and she can step out and knock down the 3-point shot. She is a very smart rebounder, defender and passer with great vision that can handle the ball well. Her personality and character will be a great fit in the locker room and our program.
