CORVALLIS, Ore. – Making starts in 37 of her 38 games played in her first collegiate season, Paige Doerr has been selected to the Pac-12’s All-Freshman Team, announced Tuesday by the league.
Primarily patrolling left field, the Coburg, Ore., product made her Oregon State debut in the 7-1 win over South Florida in the first weekend of the season and collected her first hit – a double – in the effort. Following an incredible first weekend of Pac-12 play, she was named the league’s freshman of the week after driving in three runs, hitting .444 from four hits – and her first home run – and an impeccable fielding performance against 21st-ranked Arizona.
Doerr logged 24 hits in the regular season, including a four-game hit streak as well as in six of seven games played during a March stretch. She tallied at least one hit in each Pac-12 series and had three multi-hit games.
She joins teammates Kaiea Higa (2023), Kiki Escobar (2022), Sarah Haendiges (2022) and Eliana Gottlieb (2022) to achieve the honor from the Pac-12.
Doerr and the Beavers will start postseason action against Arizona State tomorrow night in the Pac-12 Softball Tournament. First pitch from Stanford, Calif., is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on Pac-12 Networks.
