CORVALLIS, Ore. – Head coach Laura Berg and the Oregon State softball program has added a pair of student-athletes via the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 season: Jaeya Butler and Kaylie Hoskins.
Jaeya Butler

San Bernardino, Calif. (Michigan State)
Returning to the west coast, Butler brings Big Ten experience to the Beavers for the 2025 campaign. The Californian made a dozen starts for the Spartans, including a .371 batting average that saw five homers and eight runs batted in. Competing in just her second weekend of collegiate softball, she was honored as the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week ending February 19th following a .438 average, two home runs, two doubles and eight runs scored.
During her prep days at Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, she captained the team and put up big offensive numbers in her senior season: 14 round-trippers and drove in another 68 runs.
Kayle Hoskins
LHP
Lake Stevens, Wash. (Eastern Oregon)
Joining from NAIA powerhouse Eastern Oregon, Hoskins – a 2023 and 2024 All-American – will bolster the pitching staff after throwing nearly 400 strikeouts for the Mounties.
Hoskins was a force in the circle in her time in La Grande, garnered Cascades Coast Conference (CCC) First Team All-League honors (2023, 2024), 2024 CC Pitcher of the Year, 2023 NFCA All-Region and named a Daktronics Scholar Athlete.
Making her presence known to opposition, Hoskins tallied a 16-4 mark in 24 appearances in 2024, going the distance on 16 occasions and blanking opponents eight times. She finished last season with 299 strikeouts to just 59 free passes, limiting batters to just a .139 average at the plate across 207.1 innings. The Lake Stevens, Wash., product allowed only 33 runs – 17 earned – last season, accounting for an ERA of .094.
She recorded double-digit strikeouts on 16 occasions with a five-game streak of at least 13 Ks. In a league contest against Bushnell that went to extras, Hoskins retired 17 via strikes – a personal-best – to help the Mounties take the win this past April.
