EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon outside hitter Mimi Colyer has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week as announced Monday by the league office. The Lincoln, Calif., native accounted for 6.00 points per set and hit .354 to lead the Ducks in a pair of top-25 wins last week.
Colyer becomes the team’s second Big Ten weekly award winner this season, joining UO middle blocker Onye Ofoegbu who was previously the Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 23). Dating back to the Pac-12, Colyer is now a 10-time player of the week recipient.
In a display of her standout all-around play, Colyer posted 5.25 kills per set, 2.75 digs per set and 1.00 digs per set in victories over No. 16 USC and No. 24 Washington.
Against USC, Colyer had 17 kills, nine digs and two blocks in the Ducks’ straight-set win. She committed just one attack error in 37 swings against the Women of Troy, good for a .432 hitting percentage. It was her third match of the season with double-digit kills coupled with a .400 or higher efficiency figure.
Colyer closed out the weekend with a season-high 25 kills in a come-from-behind, five-set victory over Washington. It was the sixth 25-kill performance of her career and first since her freshman year in 2022. In a must-win fourth set, Colyer had nine kills and a solo block to help force the decisive fifth frame. She also tie a season high with 13 digs to go along with six blocks and an ace in Sunday’s win.
The double-double against the Huskies was her fifth of the season and 30th of her career.
In Monday’s release of the AVCA poll, Oregon (13-2, 5-1 Big Ten) lands at No. 11 for a fourth week in a row. The Ducks are on the road this coming weekend with matches at No. 9 Wisconsin and Iowa.
