EUGENE, Ore. – Rylee McCoy was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after helping lead Oregon to a weekend sweep at Indiana.
The Agoura Hills, Calif., native hit .556 (5-for-9) with a double, a home run and eight RBI. She slugged 1.000 for the series.
McCoy homered in the second game against the Hoosiers to break the Oregon freshman record for home runs with her 15th of the season.
She drove in four runs in Sunday’s series finale, the last two of which in the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the Ducks’ 9-7 win.
McCoy was named to the NFCA’s Freshman of the Year Top 25 list last Friday. She is just the fifth Duck to make the NFCA’s Top 25 list.
Nationally among all freshmen, McCoy is second in slugging percentage (.879), fourth in batting average (.427) and sixth in home runs (15).
Among all batters in the Big Ten, McCoy is fourth in batting average, seventh in slugging percentage and 12th in home runs.
This is the sixth Freshman of the Week honor for the Ducks this season. McCoy was previously honored on Feb. 24.
First-place Oregon plays at Notre Dame Monday afternoon (2 PM PT/ESPN+) before hosting Michigan State for a weekend series at Jane Sanders Stadium. The last two games of the series will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
