LA QUINTA, Calif. – Freshman Hugh Adams fired a 2-under 69 in the final round and was the top finisher for the Oregon men’s golfteam at The Prestige on Wednesday afternoon at the PGA West Greg Norman Course.
Adams, making his first appearance in the starting lineup, finished the tournament tied for 30th overall with a final score of 211 (-2).Each of Adams’ three rounds counted towards the team score and he was tied for the lowest score among Ducks in the second and third rounds. Sophomore Aiden Krafft fired a final round 69 as well, rebounding from a 6-over performance on the opening day to finish tied for 45th at 1 over overall. Owen Avrit finished tied with Krafft, shooting even par on the final day of play.
The No. 22 Ducks shot below par as a unit for the second-consecutive day, clawing back from a difficult opening round to finish 1 under and 14th in the tournament.
How It Happened
An early bogey had Adams 1 over after his first four holes, but the freshman settled in and shot par-or-better on his remaining 14 holes and used three birdies to record his second straight round under par. Krafft turned in a flawless performance as he went bogey-free with back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine en route to his 1-over finish.
Two birdies on the front nine had Avrit sitting 1 under through 12 holes, but bogeys on 13 and 17 brought him back above par with one hole remaining. The fifth-year senior finished strong, carding a birdie on the final hole to finish the day even par and tie with Krafft on the leaderboard.
Nate Stember was the fourth Duck finisher after carding a final round score of 72 and finishing T-53 with an overall score of 215 (+2). Oregon shot a 3-under 281 on Wednesday, putting the team below par for the tournament at 1 under (851). The Ducks finished above a ranked opponent in No. 24 Chattanooga.

“Hugh was awesome this tournament,” head coach Casey Martin said. “He hit the ball so well, as did Aiden today. Putting was a different story. We were shut out on the greens, but it was encouraging to see the young guys battle and play well.”
