Beavers add Matias Ahead of 2025 Season

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team has an added a student-athlete to the team – Jackie Matias – ahead of the 2025 season as announced on Friday by head coach Lindsey Behonick.

Jackie Matias

Honolulu, Hawaii (Hawaii/Punahou School) • Setter • 5-9

Joining Oregon State from Hawaii, Matias will bring two years’ worth of playing experience from the Rainbow Wahine. The Honolulu native saw action in 88 sets across 30 matches in 2024, mainly as a defensive specialist and setter. She was among the team’s leaders in assists with 53 and had a season-best nine against CSUN last October. Following the campaign, she was named the team’s Most Inspirational Player.

In her first season, as a redshirt freshman for the Rainbow Wahine in 2024, Matias saw action in 35 sets across 21 matches. She ranked second on the squad with 99 assists, averaging 2.83 per set and even tallied double-digit helpers on three occasions. She pushed across 17 helpers – a career-best – in a matchup against UC San Diego. Epitomizing a true student-athlete, she was named to the Big West’s All-Academic team.

What Coach Behonick is saying: “Jackie is a player that is passionate, determined and hard working. She has played at a high level and on a successful team, so we are excited for her to bring her experience and wide skillset to elevate our gym and add to our culture. We are excited she is a Beaver and know the next two years are bright with her.”

Matias joins six other student-athletes to sign with Oregon State ahead of the 2025 season.
