Beavers Fall Twice on Tuesday

HILLSBORO, Ore.  – Stepping back out of conference, the Oregon State softball team dropped both games of a Tuesday doubleheader to Portland State by identical 1-0 scores.

Game 1: Portland State 1, Oregon State 0

A RBI single in the fourth by the host Vikings was all they needed to push aside the Beavers (12-14) in the first game of the twin bill.

Logan Hulon (4-5) struck six out over 6.0 full but the Beavers couldn’t push any runs across to strike back. Five different Beavers recorded a hit, including Paige Doerr, who now has hits in each of the last four games.

Hulon (3-6) allowed five hits to just one walk along with the lone deciding run.

Game 2: Portland State 1, Oregon State 0 (11 innings)

The Vikings completed the two-game sweep with an identical walk-off single to win the second game.

Lici Campbell led the Beavers’ offense in the second game, collecting a pair of the six hits from OSU while four others added one apiece.

Ellie Garcia got charged with the loss despite eight punchouts and just four hits in 10.2 innings pitched.

The Beavers will go back to league play this weekend, meeting Arizona State in Tempe for the first Pac-12 series of 2024. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. PT from Farrington Stadium and can be seen on ASU’s live stream.
