Beavers Place Fourth At Oregon State Invitational

CORVALLIS – Jackson Lake shot a 1-under 212 to finish in a tie for seventh to end the two-day Oregon State Invitational Tuesday at the Trysting Tree Golf Club.

As a team, the Beavers finished fourth overall, tallying an 11-over 863 at the par-71, 7,384 yard course. OSU shot a 6-over 290 in the first round, followed by a 2-under 282 in round two. OSU ended its day Tuesday with a 7-over 291 for round three.

“It was fun to be able to host at Trysting Tree this week and show off the course,” Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. “As a team, we didn’t execute at a high enough level. We made far too many unforced errors and weren’t able to convert the short-game chances we need to compete at the highest level.

“We’ve got a few weeks now until our next event and we need to tighten up our short games.”

Lake ended his tournament with a 2-over 73 Tuesday. He shot a 1-under 70 in round one and 2-under 69 in round two. He finished with nine birdies over the two days.

Carson Barry, who also birdied nine holes, wrapped up play tied for 18th. He shot a 1-over 72 in round three after posting a 2-under 69 in round two, which was completed earlier Tuesday after play was suspended due to darkness Monday.

Nolan Thoroughgood tied for 30th at 6-over 219. He wrapped shooting par Tuesday after finishing round two at 4-over 75. He started the invitational at 2-over 73.

Sean Kato finished in a tie for 38th. He shot 4-over 75 in both rounds one and three. Round two, he totaled a 2-over 73.

Carson Enright tallied an 11-over 224 over the two days and ended in a tie for 42nd. He shot par in round two after finishing at 1-over 72 in round one.

Oregon State also fielded a B team at the invite, which consisted of Brody Marconi, Brandon Eyre, Alfred Raja and Mateo Fuenmayor.

Eyre placed in a tie for 45th after shooting a 12-over 225. He ended his day Tuesday with a 2-over 74 in round three. Marconi also tied for 45th. He opened his tournament at par in round one, then finished at 4-over 75 in round two.

Alfred Raja posted a 4-over 75 in round three, following a 3-over 74 round two. He ended tied for 65th at 16-over 229. Mateo Fuenmayor, seeing his first action of the year, shot a 1-over 72 to highlight his tournament. He finished tied for 73 at 18-over 231.

Oregon State returns to action for its final tournament of the fall when participating in the three-day Saint Mary’s Invitational at Pebble Beach Nov. 8-10.
