CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men’s soccer team has been selected to finish first in the West Coast Conference’s Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced Friday. In addition, four Beavers were selected to the WCC Preseason Team, as Fran Cortijo, Arnau Farnos, Ellis Spikner and Dante Williams all earned the honor.
Cortijo led the Beavers with eight assists in 2023, bringing his career total to 12 in his two collegiate seasons. He scored two goals last season, including the game-winner against Seattle U in the NCAA Tournament.
Farnos was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention last season, after making 20 starts on the year. He recorded a total of four goals and five assists on the campaign.
Spikner made the Pac-12 Second Team in 2023, netting four goals and a pair of assists. Overall he has made 24 starts over the last two seasons.
Williams was tabbed as a Pac-12 Honorable Mention the last two years. He recorded seven goals and six assists last season and has made 34 career starts.
As a team, Oregon State received four of the eight first-place votes available. The Beavers enter the 2024 season ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll, after making their first ever appearance in the College Cup last year.
