Beavers Sixth After 18 Holes At The Williams Cup

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Stanley Lin shot a 1-under 71 to pace the Oregon State men’s golf team in the first round of the Williams Cup hosted by North Carolina on Sunday. The Beavers, as a team, are sixth at 2-over.

Lin birdied three holes to pace the Beavers, who are all within the top 36 in a field that includes 75 golfers. Lin leads in a tie for ninth and is followed closely by Brandon Eyre, who finished at par and is tied for 13th. Like Lin, he posted three birdies, all in the back nine.

Rylan Johnson picked up two birdies to tally a 1-over 73, and is tied for 18th. Collin Hodgkinson is tied for 28th after posting a 2-over 74, with a birdie on the par-4 16th. Bradley Smolinski rounds out the Beavers’ contingent with a 3-over 75 and enters round two in a tie for 36th.

The Beavers shot 290 as a team and are one stroke behind No. 5 Notre Dame and two out of a tie for third shared by North Carolina State and Auburn. The Beavers ended Sunday with 11 birdies as a team.

Round two continues on Monday. OSU tees off at 6:05 a.m. PT.
