FULLERTON, Calif. – Eliana Gottlieb’s RBI double to left field in the fourth was all that the Oregon State softball team needed to start the Judi Garman Classic in the win column.
The Beavers (7-10) snapped a four-game skid with a 1-0 win on Friday morning over the Michigan Wolverines – which was a rematch of the final game of week one, which was won by the Wolverines.
Lici Campbell’s leadoff double to left started gave the Beavers the needed spark in the fourth. On the ensuing at-bat, Gottlieb connected with the first pitch, slapping it to left field and brought Kaylee Oh – pinch running for Campbell – home for the pivotal score.
Grace Messmer and Charity Sevaaetasi both added a hit to the Beavers’ offensive ledger for the morning.
Ellie Garcia also got back in the win column, where she pitched a complete game shutout and allowed three hits and walked just one. It marked her fourth appearance of 2024 without yielding a run as well as her second complete game shutout.
Oregon State will be back in action tomorrow with a pair of games to continue the Judi Garman Classic. The Beavers will face Long Beach State and San Jose State, with first pitch times anticipated for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
