CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 15 Oregon tied a school record with seven doubles –including an individual-record three by Ariel Carlson – to defeat Army, 12-1 in five innings, Sunday at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, played at the Eddie C. Moore Complex. Carlson had 10 RBI on the weekend and was named to the all-tournament team.

How it Happened: After two scoreless innings to open the game, the Ducks struck for three runs in the top of the third.

Kai Luschar reached on a one-out single and stole second. Emma Kauf walked before Carlson drilled her first double of the game down the right field line as both runners came around to score. Carlson advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Kedre Luschar’s RBI single.

In the bottom of the frame, Army scored a run on a hit, a passed ball and sacrifice fly to cut Oregon’s lead to 3-1 after three innings.

Carlson led off with her second double of the game and Alyssa Daniell doubled behind her. Carlson had to hold at second until the ball fell in the outfield and moved to third on the play. Vallery Wong hit the Ducks’ third double in a row to score both runners and make it 5-1 Oregon.

Kedre Luschar kept the rally going with a single up the middle that chased Wong to third before Katie Flannery walked to load the bases. Tehya Bird clubbed the Ducks’ fourth double of the inning into right field to score Kedre Luschar and Wong.

Paige Sinicki made it 8-1 with a sacrifice fly to center that scored Flannery from third. Kai Luschar reached on an infield single and stole second, giving Oregon runners on second and third.

After a fly out, Carlson ripped her second double of the inning – and third of the game – high off the wall in left center scoring both runners to make it 10-1.

Pinch-hitter Remmington Hewitt hit the Ducks’ fifth double in the inning to plate Carlson and Kedre Luschar drove in Oregon’s 12th run of the game with a single into left field that scored Hewitt.

Taylour Spencer came on in relief in the third and pitched 2.2 innings of no-hit ball to earn her second win of the weekend. Stevie Hansen went the first 2.1 innings and struck out four of the 12 batters she faced.
