Chocek Finishes 10th in Mt. SAC Heptathlon

WALNUT, Calif. – Taylor Chocek posted a pair of season bests Friday on her way to 5,688 points in the Mt. SAC Relays heptathlon. She finished 10th overall in the elite section, and sixth among collegians in the field.

Day three of the Mt. SAC Relays will feature the collegiate section of events beginning at 10 a.m. with the men’s pole vault. Running events start with the 110-meter hurdles at 11:50 a.m. The elite sections are slated for Saturday.

Friday will also mark the start of the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field. The Ducks’ distance crew will be represented by Klaudia Kazimierska and Ella Nelson, and pros Raevyn Rogers and Brooke Feldmeier in the 800 meters at 7:20 p.m. Oregon also has entries Saturday in the pro sections of the men’s 800 and mile, and women’s 1500 meters.

Chocek started her day with consecutive season bests in the long jump (5.58m/18-3.75) and the javelin (43.11m/141-5). Her measure in the javelin was good for fifth in the field overall. She secured a top-10 finish with a time of 2:24.92 in the 800 meters, the final event of the two-day competition.

The Eugene, Ore., native scored 5,625 points at last year’s Mt. SAC Relays, which, at the time, was her best score in a season opener.

Notable: Rafael Raap recorded a lifetime best in the discus—51.62m/169-4—and a collegiate-career best clearance of 4.80m/15-9 in the pole vault; the UO sophomore was a DNF in the 110 hurdles and 1500 meters.
