Colyer, Bacon Earn Pac-12 Weekly Honors

EUGENE, Ore. – On the strengths of their efforts at the season-opening Rainbow Wahine Classic, Mimi Colyer and Karson Bacon are the Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive players of the week. The Ducks swept their way through the weekend with wins over then-No. 13 San Diego, Northwestern and Hawai’i.

Oregon is up three spots to No. 6 in Monday’s release of the AVCA top-25 rankings. The team continues its non-conference schedule at the San Diego State Invitational (Aug. 31-Sept. 2).

In the weekend finale, she had 17 kills against host Hawai’i to pace the Ducks to the tournament title. She averaged 5.33 kills per set while hitting .287 over the course of three matches in Honolulu. Colyer also contributed 18 digs, seven blocks and five aces.

With Monday’s release, the Lincoln, Calif., native win the second Offensive Player of the Week award of her career and 10th overall. Colyer set the Pac-12 record with eight Freshman of the Week selections last season.

The Fontana, Calif., now has two Pac-12 weekly honors on her career resume, and first since winning Freshman of the Week in 2019.
