CUSA Newcomer of the Year Patmon Transferring to Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. – The 2024 Conference USA newcomer of the year, Dezianna “Dez” Patmon, is transferring to Oregon, coach Melyssa Lombardi announced Thursday.

Patmon, an infielder who will be a senior in 2025, belted 15 home runs and drove in 43 runs last season for New Mexico State. She also hit 11 doubles for a .748 slugging percentage. In 55 games (52 starts), Patmon went 60-for-155 (.387) at the plate, scored 40 runs and stole 14 bases. She hit a pair of home runs against Liberty in the CUSA Tournament and had a season-high six RBI March 9 versus Western Kentucky.

The San Diego, Calif., native played her first two collegiate seasons at North Carolina A&T where she hit .310 (78-of-252) with 15 doubles, 11 homers and 35 RBI. Patmon had a .508 slugging percentage and 14 stolen bases in two years with the Aggies.

“Dez is a big bat who can hit for power and average,” said Lombardi. “She has the ability to change the game with one swing and we expect her to step in and become a presence in the middle of our order right away.

“I love the energy that she brings to the game. She has one year left and is very motivated to be a big part of this team and finish her career on a high note.”
