EUGENE, Ore. – Jordan Wormdahl became just the third player in program history to score a goal in four straight games while the defense earned its first shutout of 2019 as Oregon defeated Villanova 4-0 Sunday at Pape’ Field.
For the second straight game, four different Ducks found the net as Oregon moved above .500 (2-1-1) for the first time this season. The Wildcats fell to 1-2-1.
How It Happened: Freshman Ally Cook scored her first career goal in the 14th minute off an assist from Zoe Hasenauer to stake Oregon to a 1-0 lead.
Hasenauer set up the Ducks’ second goal as well by crossing a ball to Emma Eddy who found Wormdahl wide open at the top of the box. The Eugene, Ore., native blasted home her fifth goal of the season from just inside the 18-yard line.
The only other two players in program history who have scored a goal in four straight matches are Jen Stoltenberg, who scored in five straight contests during the 2010 season, and Michele Potestio in 1980.
“She’s been really focused and working hard,” said head coach Kat Mertz. “When a forward is in the groove, you just kind of step aside and let them compete and let her play.”
In the second half, freshman Maya Hahn scored for the second time in as many games. Fellow freshman Caitlin Shaw sent a long ball into the corner, that Hahn tapped to her left before bending a strike around Villanova’s goalie and into far side of the net.
Maggie Lacey capped the scoring in the 89th minute. Taylor Kuroda tapped the ball into the clear and Lacey, a freshman from Central Point, Ore., recorded her first career goal.
Who Stood Out: Not to be overshadowed by the offense, goalkeeper Katelyn Carter and the defense put together their best game of the season. Carter made four saves to earn her first shutout since her freshman season.

What It Means: Oregon had back-to-back games with goals scored by four different players. It was also the first time the Ducks scored four or more goals in consecutive games in 19 years.
