EUGENE, Ore. – The 2024 Oregon softball team will play more than half of its games against teams that advanced to the postseason a year ago. The Ducks have 32 games scheduled against schools that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including national runner-up Florida State.
Oregon will play 13 of its first 16 games against teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last season, including all five teams they will see at both the Campbell/Cartier Classic and the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
“Each weekend in the Pac-12 is like a Super Regional,” said head coach Melyssa Lombardi. “So we want to be playing in these challenging tournaments the first month of the season because they really help us prepare to compete in the Pac.
“We’re also thrilled to add a big-time tournament with teams from across the country to our home schedule,” said Lombardi. “Our fans make The Jane one of the top environments in the nation and I think we have an exciting home schedule for them this year.”
Season tickets for the 2024 season are on sale now. Reserved seats are $175. Last year, Oregon sold out of reserved season tickets on Jan. 17. The Ducks were 10th in the NCAA in attendance, averaging 1,772 fans per game.
Oregon will open the 2024 season Feb. 8 against Indiana at the NCFA Leadoff Classic in Tampa, Fla. The Ducks will face Kansas and Liberty on Feb. 9, Missouri State on Feb. 10 and Army on Feb. 11 as part of that tournament. Indiana, Liberty and Clemson all played in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, with Clemson advancing to the Super Regional round.
The Ducks will return to both the Campbell/Cartier Classic (Feb. 16-18) and the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 22-24) again in 2024. Oregon will play both Texas A&M and LMU twice and host San Diego State once at the Campbell/Cartier Classic. All three teams qualified for the 2023 NCAA Tournament and SDSU advanced to the Super Regionals after upsetting UCLA.
There are five more NCAA teams on the slate at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where the Ducks will face Central Florida, Baylor, Notre Dame, Long Beach State and Nebraska. Oregon and Notre Dame squared off in the 2023 NCAA Arkansas Regional.
The home portion of the season begins Feb. 29-March 2 when the Ducks host the inaugural Jane Sanders Classic presented by Graduate Hotels. Oregon will play both Mount St. Mary’s and Maryland twice and 2023 NCAA national runner-up Florida State once (March 2).
The Ducks will remain home to open Pac-12 play against California March 8-10. Oregon then visits Utah March 15-17 and hosts Arizona State March 22-24. Utah advanced to the Women’s College World Series a year ago, while Cal also made an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Oregon then faces the first of the final three nonconference opponents on the schedule that all made the 2023 NCAA Tournament – Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon and Northern Colorado – with a trip to Fullerton on March 26, before moving over to Los Angeles to close out the month at UCLA (March 28-30).
The Ducks will host Washington April 5-6 before playing four games in Arizona. Oregon will play Grand Canyon April 10 in Phoenix before making the drive down to Tucson to play Arizona April 12-14.
The final four home games, including Senior Day, will be April 19-21 versus Oregon State and April 28 against Northern Colorado. Senior Day ceremonies will be held on April 21.
The Ducks close out the regular season May 3-5 at Stanford and will remain in the Bay Area for the Pac-12 Tournament, hosted May 8-11 by the Cardinal.
Washington and Stanford joined Utah and Florida State at the 2023 WCWS.
The 2024 season will mark the Ducks’ first games against Clemson, Central Florida, Liberty, Missouri State, Army, Mount St. Mary’s and Northern Colorado.
Conversely, Oregon and Washington will play for the 100th time on April 5 and the May 5 game at Stanford will mark the 100th meeting all-time between those two schools.
The Ducks return seven starters in the field and their top three pitchers from a 2023 team that advanced to the NCAA Super Regional round.
Television and streaming broadcast information will be announced later this month.
