Ducks, Beavs Lead Weekly Pac-12 Conference Honors

EUGENE – After scoring a career-high 26 points vs. Utah, senior guard Will Richardson has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The preseason all-conference first team selection shot 75 percent from the field versus the Utes, netting 9-of-12 field goals and 5-of-6 three-pointers. Richardson scored 23 of his 26 points in the second half, helping the Ducks turn a six-point halftime deficit into a 13-point victory. It was his fifth career 20-point game and second of the season.

The Ducks improved to 6-0 in 2021-22 when Richardson scores 17 or more points.

It is the first weekly honor of Richardson’s career, and the first by a Ducks player since Chris Duarte set the UO school record with his fourth player of the week selection on Mar. 8, 2021.

Down the road in Corvallis, Oregon State forward Glenn Taylor Jr. was named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.

Taylor Jr., a native of Las Vegas, had five points, two rebounds and a steal in the Beavers’ 88-76 win over Utah. Both of his baskets – a 3-pointer and left-handed layup – came in the second half.

The Pac-12 Conference started awarding a Freshman of the Week prior to the 2019-20 season. Taylor Jr. is the first Oregon State player to receive the recognition.

The Pac-12 announced its eighth weekly honors of the 2021-22 men’s basketball season as voted on by media who cover the league.
