Ducks Make History with Three Academic All-Americans

EUGENE, Ore. – For the first time in program history, three Ducks earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honors in the same season.

Infielder Paige Sinicki and outfielder Kedre Luschar were named to the first team, while outfielder Kai Luschar was named to the second team.

The three seniors led No. 5 Oregon to a 54-10 record and a Big Ten regular season championship (19-3) in 2025. The trio were part of a Duck squad that won the NCAA Eugene Regional and Super Regional to advance to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2018.

They are the eighth, ninth and 10th Academic All-Americans in program history.

Kedre Luschar and Sinicki became just the fifth and sixth Ducks named to the first team, and are the first to merit that distinction since Koral Costa in 2016.

Kedre Luschar is also just the fifth player in program history to earn All-America honors both on the field and in the classroom in the same academic year. She was an NFCA All-America second team outfielder this season. Alexa Peterson first accomplished the feat in 2013. The incomparable Cheridan Hawkins was a three-time All-American and Academic All-American in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Costa also pulled off the double in 2016, while Allee Bunker did likewise in 2023.

Sinicki graduated from Oregon with 3.77 grade point average, earning her degree in human physiology. She had a career season at the plate in 2025 where she set personal bests in hitting with a .376 average, doubles (14), home runs (eight), RBI (50) and stolen bases (32). She made 193 consecutive starts at shortstop and was on the all-Big Ten first team and the all-Big Ten defensive team.

Kedre Luschar earned NFCA Second Team All-America honors while earning degrees in business administration and general social science with a 3.83 GPA.

She was a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist after leading the Ducks with a .435 average and 63 RBIs. She hit 17 doubles, five triples and seven home runs, while stealing 29-of-29 bases. Kedre Luschar was named to the all-Big Ten first team and the all-Big Ten defensive team.

Kai Luschar ended her career as the most prolific base stealer in Big Ten history. She led the NCAA with 60 steals in 2025 to break the Oregon and Big Ten records. She is just the 15th player in NCAA Division I history to steal 60 bases in a season. Kal Luschar also holds program records for career steals (108) and steals in a game (four).

She hit .415 as a senior and became just the second player in program history to finish her career with a .400 batting average (.401). Kai Luschar was named the NFCA Golden Shoe Award Winner as the nation’s best base stealer and was also on the All-Big Ten First Team.

She earned her degree in general social science with a 3.72 GPA.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the softball program has produced one or more Academic All-Americans under coach Melyssa Lombardi. Allee Bunker was a third-team selection in 2022 and second-team honoree in 2023. Vallery Wong was on the second team in 2024.

The only previous season that produced multiple Academic All-America selections for Oregon softball was 2016 when both Costa and Hawkins were honored.

The Academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) of America.
