EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon men’s golf is in the final stages of preparing to tee off the 2023-24 season, which begins Sept. 8-10 at the Mirabel Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Ducks are fresh off of a second-straight NCAA Championships appearance last season.
UO returns a wealth of experience from last year’s roster, including all five starters from the NCAA Championships, and will be led by fifth-year seniors Owen Avrit and Nate Stember. Last season, Avrit became Oregon’s first PING All-American in five years after leading the Ducks with a 70.28 stroke average – fifth best in program history – to go along with eight top-10 finishes that included two victories. All 36 of Avrit’s rounds counted towards the Ducks’ score in 2022-23.
Avrit and Stember were each named to the All-Pac-12 team as well as the PING All-West Region team. Stember won the Duck Invitational in the spring and was second on the squad with a scoring average of 71.33. Two additional returners – senior Greg Solhaug and junior Greyson Leach – received Pac-12 honorable mention nods, while Aiden Krafft was named an all-freshman honorable mention.
The Ducks’ fall schedule will feature four tournaments, including the Cal Poly Invitational (Oct. 30-31) at which Avrit will look to defend his medalist honors from 2022. The spring portion of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
