Ducks Sign National Player of the Year

EUGENE, Ore. – Sydney Chura, the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NAIA National Player of the Year, will use her final year of eligibility to play for the Ducks this fall, new head coach Tracy Joyner announced Thursday.

Chura scored a school-record 27 goals with 16 assists to lead Savannah College of Art and Design to the 2024 NAIA national championship.

The Milford, Mich., native set SCAD records for goals and points (70) in a season as well as for career goals (74) and points (186).

“Sydney is a proven goal-scorer and winner,” said Joyner. “She knows how to put the ball in the back of the net and she knows what it takes to win a national championship. We are confident she will make an immediate impact this fall.”

Chura is the 12th player signed this spring. She will join transfers Cailin Bloom (California), Kate Cheldelin (Washington), Abella Hunter (UC Davis), Gia Kiesling (UC Davis), Elise Picard (UC Davis) and Bryana Pizarro (Washington State) and incoming freshmen Miya Alamares (Woodland, Calif.), Addisen Boyer (Oak Harbor, Wash.), Carys Hall (Fresno, Calif.), Izzy Sawyers (San Clemente, Calif.) and Selah Simms (Brentwood, Calif.) in Joyner’s first recruiting class.
