Ducks Sweep NCATA Weekly Awards

EUGENE, Ore. – On the heels of its best performance of the 2024 season, the Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team swept the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association weekly awards, the organization announced on Wednesday. Cami Wilson was named the Athlete of the Week, Makena Carrion the Specialist of the Week and Bella Swarthout the Freshman of the Week.

Oregon traveled to face Hawai’i Pacific on Sunday night, earning a dominant 276.915-258.345 victory. The overall score was a season high for the Ducks, who also recorded season bests in the pyramid, toss and team events. In the pyramid event, Oregon recorded a perfect 10 in the third heat for the first time since 2021, a heat in which each of the three award winners were a part of.

Cami Wilson – Athlete of the Week

Wilson, a senior base from Los Angeles, Calif., competed in 10 heats and team event for the Ducks. Her performance was highlighted by nine scores of 9.60 or higher, including a perfect 10.0 in the open pyramid and a 9.95 in the compulsory toss.

Makena Carrion – Specialist of the Week

Carrion, a senior from Rossmoor, Calif., was a standout in the pyramid event for Oregon. Competing as a top, Carrion helped the Ducks record a perfect 10.0 in the open pyramid, while also adding a score of 9.80 in the synchronized pyramid.

Bella Swarthout – Freshman of the Week

Swarthout, a base from Paso Robles, Calif., competed in four heats and team event for the Duck. Each of her heats scored a 9.70 or higher, including a 10.0 in the open pyramid. She also competed in team event, helping the Ducks to a score of 94.14. Swarthout has been named an honorable mention for the Freshman of the Week award three times this season.
