Elmore Named Pac-12 Runner of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. – For a second time in her career, Maddy Elmore has been named the Pac-12 Women’s Runner of the Week. The Eugene, Ore., native won the invitational section of the 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational with an NCAA-leading time and school-record performance.

Elmore stopped the clock in 15:15.79 last Friday evening in Stanford to replace the 39-year-old Oregon mark. Kathy Hayes set the previous record of 15:23.03 in 1985. The time for Elmore also makes her the No. 9 performer in collegiate history in the event.

Friday’s outing marked Elmore’s school record of the season. In December, she ran 8:50.43 at the BU Season Opener to break the school record at 3,000 meters. She then anchored the DMR to a 10:47.50, teaming with Klaudia Kazimierska, Ella Clayton and Ella Nelson at the Razorback Invitational.

Elmore’s time in the 5,000 now sits second in Pac-12 history, trailing Stanford’s Aisling Cuffe (15:11.13) who set the conference record in 2014. Elmore previously won Runner of the Week on April 25, 2023, following her 4:13.21 effort at last year’s Payton Jordan Invitational.

Also at the Stanford Invitational, the Ducks added top-20 national times in the men’s 800 meters from Elliott Cook (1:47.91, No. 10) and Matthew Erickson (1:47.95, No. 12) and the women’s 10,000 meters from Anika Thompson (32:54.97, No. 17). Thompson’s time is also fifth on the all-time UO list.
