Eugene native Maddy Elmore made her season debut with a victory at the Dellinger Invitational.
EUGENE, Ore. – On the strength of her victory at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, Oregon senior Maddy Elmore has been named the USTFCCCA Division I Women’s National Athlete of the Week.
Elmore made the most of her season debut at Friday’s Dellinger Invitational with an individual title at Pine Ridge Golf Club. She navigated the 6K course in 19:40.2, nearly 10 seconds clear of the field. The win was the first of her cross country career, and improved on prior Dellinger finishes of 16th place in 2022 and seventh last year.
The Eugene native became the eighth UO woman to win at Dellinger, and first since Susan Ejore took first place at the 2018 meet. Elmore’s victory helped the UO women to a runner-up finish in the team race, trailing on sixth-ranked Utah. The Ducks placed their top five inside the top 17.
Coincidentally, Elmore joins Ejore as the only UO women to earn National Athlete of the Week during cross country season.
The Ducks return to competition Friday, Nov. 1, with the Big Ten Championships in Savoy, Ill.
