EVANDER NAMED TO MLS TEAM OF THE MATCHDAY FOR MATCHDAY 4

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Evander has been named to Team of the Matchday for Matchday 4, the league announced today. Timbers forward Antony was listed to the bench. The Brazilian duo helped the Timbers stay atop of the Western Conference standings with a pair of goals in their 2-1 comeback victory over New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In his 2024 season debut, Evander scored the game-winning goal against NYCFC in the97th minute, marking the latest game-winning goal in club history. It also marked the 25-year-old’s 10th career goal for the Timbers, four of which been game-winning goals. Evander recorded a 90-minute performance in the match.

Antony registered the game-tying goal and the game-winning assist in Saturday’s match. The Brazilian winger has scored a team-best three goals this season, while recording a team-best seven points (3g, 1a). Antony’s three goals is tied with four other players for the most in the league. 

The Timbers will continue on the road to face the Houston Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, March 16. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. (Pacific) and will stream on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app in English and Spanish as well as local radio broadcasts, 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
