Five Future Ducks Named to Naismith Midseason Team

 

EUGENE, Ore. – The future certainly looks bright for the Oregon women’s basketball team as all five of the Ducks’ incoming freshmen for the 2020-21 season have been named to the 25-player midseason team for the 2020 Jersey Mike’s Nasmith Trophy for Girls High School Player of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced this week.

Oregon’s elite recruiting class, ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN, is made up of guards Te-Hina Paopao, Sydney Parrish and Maddie Scherr, along with forwards Angela Dugalic and Kylee Watson. All five of the Ducks’ signees are regarded as five-star talents ranked in the top 35 of ESPN’s 2020 top 100.

The Ducks’ class makes up a whopping 20 percent of the Naismith Trophy midseason team, with no other program in the country landing more than two signees on the 25-player list.

The list of 25 will narrow further to 10 semifinalists on Feb. 4, and then to finalists on Feb. 18. The winner of the of the Jersey Mike’s Naismith high School Trophy for Girls Player of the Year will be announced on March 10.
