Huang Opens With 1-Under 70

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Freshman Ting-Hsuan Huang shot under par for the first time in her Oregon career on Monday while leading the UO women’s golf team in the opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club.

Huang finished with a 1-under 70, putting her in a tie for 15th individually and just three strokes off the lead through 18 holes. The No. 9 Ducks sit in 16th place after carding a 12-over 296.

How it Happened: Huang got off to a bit of a slow start with three bogeys through her first seven holes, but she caught fire with four birdies in a six-hole span to get under par. Huang closed her round with four straight pars to finish with her best round yet as a Duck.

Senior Minori Nagano and sophomore Anika Varma each finished with a 5-over 76 to round out the counting scores for the Ducks.
