Jackson Lake Leads OSU Men’s Golf On First Day In Hawai’i

KOHALA COAST, Hawai’i – Jackson Lake posted his second-best career round, shooting a 6-under 66 to lead Oregon State in the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational on Thursday.

Lake finished with six birdies and eagled the par-4, 401-yard fourth hole at the par-72, 6913-yard Mauna Lani North Course. He stands in a tie for eighthafter one day of action.

Lake was one shot off his career best of a 7-under 65 at the 2023 Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. Thursday’s finish marked his ninth round under par thisyear, and 30th of his career.

Oregon State finished with 21 birdies as a team, with Mateo Fuenmayor, who is tied for 22nd, posting five. He shot a 4-under 68 for his sixth round underpar this year.

Oregon State is tied for 12th after one round. The Beavers shot a 10-under 278 as a team, and are just two strokes shy of Georgia Tech and Washington, who tied for eighth.

Rylan Johnson finished the first round just behind Fuenmayor, at a 2-under 70. Johnson, who finished with four birdies, is tied for 49th after one round, and is one of 75 competitors under par.

Nicolas Quintero, competing as an individual, shot a 2-under 70 to equal Johnson. He picked up four birdies of his own and eagled the par-5, 521-yard second hold.

Brandon Eyre posted a 2-over 74 and is in a tie for 101st while Collin Hodgkinson is at 3-over and tied for 106th.

Oregon State returns to action Friday with a 9:30 a.m. PT (7:30 a.m. in Hawai’i) start for round two.
