CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women’s soccer Interim Head Coach Caroline Kelly announced the addition of three assistant coaches on Thursday, as Livv Seddon, Zandy Soree and Leah Pruitt have officially joined the Beaver family.
“I’m very excited about what we can accomplish as a staff and how we can push this program forward,” Kelly said. “The student-athletes at Oregon State are going to be surrounded by incredible women who are great role models in how to succeed in this sport.”
Coach Seddon spent the last year as the Player Development Coordinator for Iowa State women’s soccer, where she assisted with individual student-athlete development plans and statistical analysis while also helping with film, recruiting and all phases of training, with a focus on midfield and attacking play.
She got to ISU by way of Kansas State, where she spent one year as an assistant. As a Wildcat, Seddon was responsible for both video analysis and scouting as well as on-field instruction.
“Livv Seddon is coming to Corvallis with a wealth of knowledge in the college game and I’m very happy to have her on this staff,” Kelly said. “Throughout the interview process she stood out as an awesome person who is eager to attack this job. Her ability to coach, lead and analyze the game is exactly what I was looking for in this position.”
Seddon was a five-year letter winner on the Northern Colorado soccer team, making 89 total appearances. A midfielder from Chino Hills, California, she was a 2021 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team selection and a 2021 All-Big Sky First Team honoree. In 2020, she collected All-Big Sky Second Team honors and was a 2019 All-Big Sky Second Team honoree.
During her time in Greeley, Seddon received her bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Coaching in 2020 and completed her graduate degree with a Master of Arts in Sports Coaching in 2022. For her work in the classroom, Seddon was a two-time United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region selection and a three-time Academic All-Big Sky honoree.
Coach Soree was most recently an Academy Head Coach, Assistant Coach and College Coordinator for the Portland Thorns Academy, where she played a role in tasks ranging from practice planning and game preparation to talent discovery and building pathways to a collegiate career.
Before moving to Portland, she coached two seasons on the staff at Lenoir Rhyne University. During her time in Hickory, N.C., the Bears posted a 29-5-8 record and made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, going as far as the quarterfinals in 2023. Soree also coached and trained athletes for several club teams prior to joining the collegiate ranks.
“I am very excited that Zandy Soree is joining the Oregon State staff,” Kelly said. “Getting to know her during the US Soccer C License course, I knew she was a coach that shared the same vision for a program that I do, and her coaching and playing experience are going to help propel our program forward in all facets of the game. I am thrilled to be able work alongside her this fall.”As a player, Soree earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a senior at Central Florida and netted three game-winning goals, including the winner against No. 22 SMU. She also earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team in 2016. In her four years with the Knights, Soree played in 67 matches and finished with 14 goals and 11 assists, including a career-high seven goals as a senior.Following her collegiate playing career, Soree signed a contract with the Orlando Pride of the NWSL in 2020 and spent time on trial with the Houston Dash. In September 2021, Soree joined Breioablike of the Icelandic Urvalsdeild and competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage, playing in all six games.
Her playing experience also includes appearances with the Belgian Women’s National Soccer Team, beginning at the youth level and progressing to the senior team, where she was capped four times.
Coach Pruitt comes to Corvallis after a highly successful playing career that included four years in the NWSL. The fifth overall pick in the 2019 NWSL draft, she scored twice and added an assist across 11 total appearances for the North Carolina Courage, who went on to win the NWSL Championship and NWSL Shield at the end of her rookie season.
She went on to make 15 appearances for OL Reign and 17 for the Orlando Pride, finishing her professional career with five goals and three assists across 50 appearances.
“Leah Pruitt brings a high level of playing experience to our program. Her professional mentality will help guide our players in how to train, learn, and adapt like a pro,” Coach Kelly said. “Her energy and excitement for the game are perfect for helping this program succeed.”
The 2015 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-Mountain West selection at San Diego State, Pruitt went on to play three seasons at Southern California, earning Second Team All Pac-12 honors as a junior before a 12 goal, nine assist senior season put her on the First Team; the Trojans made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament that year.
Across four seasons, her she finished her collegiate career with 32 goals and 30 assists in 81 total appearances.
Oregon State women’s soccer is set to begin the 2024 season in just two weeks, hitting the road to face Iowa in Missoula, Mont., on Aug. 15.
