EUGENE, Ore. – Outfielder Kai Luschar was named to the 2025 USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List on Wednesday. She was one of 53 players selected by USA Softball.
Luschar, a senior from Carson City, Nev., led the Ducks with a .410 batting average in 2024. She led the Pac-12 and was 25th nationally with 27 stolen bases last season. She also led the team in runs (48) and hits (73). Luschar posted a .646 on-base percentage, reaching base safely in 44-of-51 games in 2024 and recording a hit in 41-of-51 games.
She was an NFCA All-Pacific Regional first-team honoree and an All-Pac-12 first-team selection. She ranked among the Pac-12’s top seven in batting average, runs, hits and on base percentage.
Luschar enters the 2025 season with a .391 career batting average, which ranks third on UO’s all-time list.
Wednesday’s honor caps a month that saw four Ducks earn preseason recognition. In addition to Luschar, 2024 Gold Glove winner Paige Sinicki was recognized among the nation’s top shortstops, while infielder Kaylynn Jones and outfielder Elyse Kresho received national freshman laurels.
No. 23 Oregon opens the 2025 season Feb. 7 with games against Buffalo and Southern Utah at the UNLV Desert Classic in what will be a homecoming of sorts for Nevadans Sinicki (Henderson), Kai Luschar and her sister Kedre Luschar.
