Mays, Ross Collect Weekly Pac-12 Honors

EUGENE, Ore. – Jadyn Mays and Jaida Ross have been named Pac-12 Women’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Already named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for her collegiate-record performance, Ross is now a two-time Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Week. The Medford, Ore., native threw 19.71m/64-8 in the shot put at the Triton Invitational (April 6) to replace the previous NCAA standard (19.64m/64-5.25) set by Ohio State’s Adelaide Aquilla in 2022.

Ross also recorded a lifetime best of 58.31m/191-4 in the discus, a measure that puts her inside the top 15 nationally. She won her first Pac-12 award in the final week of the 2022 regular season.

Mays swept the 100 and 200 meters at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., with meet-record times of 11.28 and 22.85, respectively. She is currently tied for the No. 4 time in the country in the 200, and ranks second in the Pac-12 in both events. Mays also helped the Ducks’ 4×100 relay to a season-best 44.82 and second-place finish at the Cal meet.

The UO women check in at No. 6 in Tuesday’s release of the USTFCCCA National Ratings Index.
