EUGENE, Ore. – The honors keep rolling in for Rylee McCoy.
Thursday, she was named one of 10 finalists for the 2025 NFCA National Freshman of the Year.
She is just the third Duck to make the NFCA’s Top 10 list, joining Jenna Lilley in 2015 and Maggie Balint in 2017.
Nationally among all freshmen, McCoy is first in slugging percentage (.860), fifth in home runs, seventh in RBI (52) and 11th in batting average (.407).
In the Big Ten, McCoy is ninth in home runs and eighth in slugging percentage. She is second on the team and 14th in the Big Ten batting average (.404).
Last week against Michigan State, McCoy extended her Oregon freshman record with her 16th and 17th home runs of the season. She’s now just two shy of the overall UO record of 19 by Ann Marie Topps (2007).
McCoy was named the Most Valuable Player of the Mary Nutter Classic as well as the national freshman of the week by D1 Softball. She was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice this season.
Top-seeded Oregon opens the Big Ten Tournament Thursday at 1:30 p.m. PT against the No. 8 seed, Michigan. The game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
On May 22, the NFCA Freshman of the Year list will be trimmed to three with the winner revealed on May 27 prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
