EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon men’s basketball Head Coach Dana Altman announced today additions to his staff. Brian Fish has been hired as Executive Director, Armon Gates as Assistant Coach and Cliff Spiller as Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Fish most recently served as Director of Player Development at Georgia from 2019-22. Prior to his time in Athens, Fish was the head coach at Montana State from 2014-19. From 2010-14, Fish served as an assistant coach for the Ducks, helping the team to four consecutive 20-win seasons, two NCAA appearances and a Sweet Sixteen birth in 2013. In total, Fish has coached alongside Coach Altman for 13 seasons at Oregon, Creighton, Kansas State and Marshall.
Gates spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Nebraska. The native of Chicago has also coached at Florida, Northwestern, Loyola Chicago, TCU, Kent State and Western Kentucky. He graduated from Kent State in 2006 and was a MAC All-Academic selection.
Spiller joins the staff after spending last season with the Utah Jazz as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Prior to his time in Utah, Spiller was on the staffs of the Suns and 76ers G League teams. The Atlantic City, N.J. native got his bachelor’s degree from Wagner College and his MS from PennWest California.
