EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon relievers Logan Mercado and Bradley Mullan have been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year midseason watch list.
Mullan, a senior from Chino Hills, Calif., leads Oregon in appearances (18) and ERA (1.42), while ranking second on the team in saves (4). He has 27 strikeouts in 24.1 innings of work and is holding opposing hitters to a .219 batting average. He ranks in a tie for seventh in the Pac-12 in saves and is tied for 10th in appearances.
Mercado, a senior from Pasco, Wash., is Oregon’s team leader in saves (6), while ranking second in appearances with 17. He has fanned 32 batters in a bullpen-high 28.0 innings pitched and has a 3.54 ERA. The Ducks’ right-hander is tied for third in the Pac-12 in saves, as well as 28th in the nation, and ranks in a tie for 16th in the league in appearances.
Oregon is one of just six teams with more than one pitcher included on the watch list. The Ducks join Arkansas (3), Vanderbilt (3), Lamar (2), Louisiana (2) and North Carolina (2).
