EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon reliever Austin Anderson was named a preseasons second-team All-America pick by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Tuesday.
Anderson earned the honor after putting together a stellar season out of the bullpen in 2023. The Roseburg, Ore., native finished his junior season with a 4-0 record and a 0.66 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .111 batting average. The right-handed pitcher allowed just two runs on 10 hits in 27.1 innings pitched with 39 strikeouts.
Anderson is entering his second season at Oregon after spending two seasons at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg. As a sophomore at UCC, he earned second-team South Division All-Northwest Athletic Conference honors after going 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA.
Anderson and the rest of the Ducks return to the field when Oregon opens its season in the 2024 Shriners Children’s College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 16-18. The Ducks will play Oklahoma, Baylor and #18 Texas Tech in the tournament. UO opens its home season with a four-game series against Lafayette on Feb. 23-25.
