NEW YORK — The Oregon football offensive line was announced on Tuesday as one of 10 semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award, presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding offensive line unit.
The Ducks are one of three teams in the nation to be a Joe Moore Award semifinalist in each of the last three seasons, along with Tulane and Tennessee. The other semifinalists are Alabama, Army, Indiana, Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas.
Oregon is tied for third in the Big Ten with 10 total sacks allowed this season, but the Ducks have given up just three total sacks over their last eight games. UO has allowed zero sacks six times, and has racked up 127 total knockdowns this season including 102 over the last seven contests.
The offensive line has helped the top-ranked Ducks score 30-plus points in each of the last nine games, while rushing for 150-plus yards in seven of their last eight. All eight points of Oregon’s third-quarter touchdown drive last week vs. Maryland were scored by offensive linemen, as Gernorris Wilson caught a three-yard touchdown pass and Josh Conerly Jr. took a direct snap and rushed for a two-point conversion.
Since the start of the 2022 season, Oregon leads the nation with just 20 total sacks allowed. The Ducks led the country in fewest sacks allowed in both 2022 and 2023, allowing just five sacks in each season.
Finalists for the 2024 Joe Moore Award will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 3, following the completion of the regular season.
