NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux is one of 35 players on the Walter Camp Player of the Year preseason watch list, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Friday morning.
Thibodeaux is one of 10 defensive players named to the watch list for the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. He is one of three Pac-12 players included, along with quarterbacks Jayden Daniels (ASU) and Kedon Slovis (USC).
Marcus Mariota (2014) is the lone Walter Camp Award winner in program history. Onterrio Smith (2002) and Dennis Dixon (2007) were both finalists, and LaMichael James (2011) and Justin Herbert (2019) each reached the semifinalist stage.
Thibodeaux was also named a Walter Camp first-team all-American earlier this summer, one that has been filled with preseason honors for the Los Angeles native. Thibodeaux represented the Ducks earlier this week at Pac-12 Media Day, where he was the lone unanimous preseason first-team all-conference selection.
