PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Oregon State men’s golf team finds itself in fifth place after almost 36 holes at the first day at the Thunderbird Collegiate on Friday.
The Beavers were among a few teams unable to finish the second round of play due to darkness. All five Beaver competitors completed at least 15 holes in the second round, with Jackson Lake tallying 17.
Mateo Fuenmayor finds himself in a tie for seventh thanks to a 4-under 137 over the first 16 holes. He posted five birdies in the first round and three in the second. He, along with teammate Stanley Lin, posted a 3-under 68 in the first round.
Lin was able to finish just 15 holes in the second round and stands at a 3-under 128. He is tied for 11th after posting seven birdies, with five coming in the first round.
Lake, the reigning Pac-12 Golfer of the Week, is at a 1-over 139 with one hole to play. He’s matched by Rylan Johnson in a tie for 33rd. Lake shot a 1-under 70 in the first round and was a 2-under 69 when play ended Friday. Johnson, meanwhile, finished with a 2-over 73 and was at a 1-under 63 with two holes to play in round two.
Collin Hodgkinson finds himself in a tie for 95th with two holes to play in the second round. He shot a 3-over 74 in round one and is at a 7-over 71 in the second.
