EUGENE — Oregon women’s basketball head coach Kelly Graves made another big addition to the Ducks’ roster on Tuesday with the signing of two-time NJCAA all-American Chanaya Pinto.
A 6-foot-1 forward, Pinto led Northwest Florida State College to its first-ever NJCAA women’s basketball national championship as a sophomore in 2020-21 while earning NJCAA second-team all-America honors. She was a third-team NJCAA all-American as a freshman in 2019-20.
“We’re thrilled about adding Chanaya to our program,” said Graves. “She is a very versatile player who can shoot it, drive it, finish around the rim, get to the free throw line, and guard multiple positions. A native of Maputo, Mozambique, Pinto averaged a team-high 14.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Raiders during their national championship run, scoring in double figures 19 times with 10 double-doubles.
