COLORADO SPRINGS — After heading to training camp as one of 13 finalists, Sedona Prince was one of 12 players officially named to the 2021 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team on Sunday.

The 6-foot-7 Oregon women’s basketball standout will depart on June 8 for San Juan, Puerto Rico, to compete at the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup, set for June 11-19.

The top four finishing teams at the AmeriCup will advance to compete in one of four 2022 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, in hopes of earning one of the 12 spots in the 2022 FIBA World Cup.

Prince averaged 10.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while helping Oregon to a fourth straight Sweet Sixteen in 2020-21. The Liberty Hill, Texas, native is looking to collect more hardware with Team USA, having already won a gold medal at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Ten nations from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean will take part in the 2021 FIBA AmeriCup. Games will begin on June 11, but the USA will open play on June 12 against Dominican Republic at 3:10 p.m. The USA will play Puerto Rico at 6:10 p.m. on June 13, Venezuela at 3:10 p.m. on June 14 and will wrap up the preliminary round against Argentina at 6:10 p.m. on June 15.

The quarterfinals will be played on June 17, the semifinals on June 18 and the third-place and gold-medal games on June 19.
