EUGENE — Oregon safety Bennett Williams is the Walter Camp National FBS Defensive Player of the Week, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Sunday morning.
Williams notched eight tackles and made a pair of interceptions in No. 3 Oregon’s 41-19 win over Arizona on Saturday, returning his second interception 68 yards for a touchdown to help put the game away for the Ducks.
Williams is the second Duck this season to earn national defensive player of the week honors; Verone McKinley III was the Bronko Nagurski national defensive player of the week following Oregon’s historic road win at then-No. 3 Ohio State.
A native of Campbell Calif., Williams is the 10th player in program history to receive Walter Camp national player of the week honors, and the third to earn the defensive award.
